SUMMARY
Resolve It is a global ecosystem mapping initiative - it illuminates the climate landscape, identifying crucial financial capacity disparities and gaps based on organization type, focus, and geography.
The outcome of this initiative will be a public report about the findings, offering insights into critical gaps and opportunities in the sector. Preliminary results will be released ahead of COP29 in Baku, with the full report to be released in Q1 2025. The primary touchpoint of the initiative will be a bespoke interactive website that will provide real-time insights into the initiative's performance and activity through data visualizations and graphs.
THE CONCEPT
Climate change and sustainability are not issues of scarcity but of resource management and prioritization. This initiative aims to ask the questions that direct resources toward change. The best way to achieve that is simply to ask.
This initiative envisions a new method for participatory decision-making/policymaking that bridges gaps between policymakers and the public by re-designing a mechanism for inquiry, listening, and understanding. The design approach blends relevant and contemporary design and communication standards, to offer a new and easier-to-navigate experience and improvement in engagement.
This is a public-benefit initiative. All information and results gathered during this initiative will be fully anonymized and then made publicly available for complete transparency and maximization of public benefit at no cost.
PRIMARY IMPACT GOAL: Launch a global impact initiative that gathers data from 1,000,000 climate-focused organizations to identify financial capacity gaps and opportunities.
SECONDARY IMPACT GOAL: Equip policymakers and the public with data-driven insights on financial capacity disparities, facilitating the development of effective policy solutions.
SCHEDULE
August: Initiative Partner Acquisition / Initiative promotion start (End of August)

December 31st: Initiative end date
Q1 2025: Official results/report released
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
The research will focus on quantitative analysis to identify the specific gaps in financing based on organization type and location. We will approach this through a narrative-based survey format. *The experience will be offered in a multilingual format.
To achieve a high level of engagement, we must re-think the design. We will be leveraging an element of real-time, interactive visualizations made available through an online portal and further combining those visual elements with the outputs included in the research/study.
Primary Questions:
- Contact Information*
- Organization name*
- Location*
- Field of work*
- Organization type* (Non-profit, foundation, etc)
- Focus Area* (SDG indicator or other)
- Short description of the project (50-100 words)
- Financial capacity needs*
DATA EVALUATION & RESULTS
The data will be analyzed using standard statistical methods and semantic analysis with the Resolve engine. Our approach enables us to identify and quantify occurrences of certain patterns, sentiments, and keywords.
All the collected data will be anonymized. Personally identifiable information (PII), along with all the other initiative-related data, will be securely stored and encrypted in a SOC2 Type 2 compliant database. The PII of initiative participants will not be shared with any third party and will be used solely to communicate the final results of the initiative to the participants who have explicitly provided their consent.
OUTPUTS
Results will be available in the following formats via the https://resolveit.global website:
- Public results summary
- Public report (Download)
- Anonymized primary data set (Download)
The study will feature the thesis, methodology, data analysis, and results of the initiative on a global level. The study will offer a subset of the analysis with more nuanced insights into particular focus areas such as financial capacity needs on a per-country basis, as well as a more detailed sectoral overview, highlighting which industries within the climate sector deal with the largest gaps. The study will outline suitable opportunities for further action, engagement, and investment.
IMPACT ACTIONS
- Based on analysis of participants' most common needs, Resolve It will award a prize to an organization (within the participant pool) that addresses the most significant gap, helping to accelerate their actions.
- The initiative will utilize data analysis to identify synergies between participants and provide suggestions for engagement between the stakeholders. With this approach, we can immediately start to catalyze action and address the identified gaps.
PARTNER PARTICIPATION & OUTREACH STRATEGY
The initiative is fully open and public and will be distributed through a range of channels including strategic partnerships with various networks and communities, media, and multilateral events globally. Primary online channels include: Newsletters / Social Media (LinkedIn / Instagram)
All partners of this initiative will be acknowledged for their contribution to the dedicated initiative website as well as in the final report/publication.
Partners will receive the following benefits:
- All participating organizations will be recognized for their contributions and listed on the initiative website and in the final study through a name mention (individual/organization) on the final report.
All participants will be provided with a media toolkit with the following:
- Media assets ready for Newsletter embedding
- Media assets ready for Social Media distribution
All partners are asked to distribute the initiative’s assets on the following approximate dates:
- October 1st, 2024
- November 1st, 2024
